Coquimbo (pronounced co-KEEM-bo), La Serena's twin city, is a working-class port with a large fish market right on the sea, next to its main pier.  Be sure to sample a freshly caught "congrio" (Chilean sea bass) or some "pulpo con limón y cebolla" (a local type of ceviche).  Enjoy them at one of the many down-home restaurants, where the dishes don't match and each individual order is served when it's ready; eat yours while still hot.  If you'd rather get these sea goodies to go, keep them fresh by using the hot/cold bag we have in the kitchen for this very purpose.
